After recently wrapping up a Japanese developer-focused episode of its State of Play series, Sony has a new livestream scheduled this week that shines a spotlight on Hogwarts Legacy.
Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games, the livestream will run for about 20 minutes and will feature over 14 minutes of Hogwarts Legacy gameplay captured on PS5. According to the PS Blog, you can catch the gameplay preview at these times:
When to watch Hogwarts Legacy State Of Play
- Date: March 17
- Time: 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM CET
After the gameplay has shown off, the stream will conclude with some insight from a few members of the team at Avalanche Software. Set in the same school made famous by the Harry Potter books and films, the game is an open-world experience and will see you take control of your very own witch or wizard after they enroll in the magical academy during the 1800s. Just remember, Hufflepuff is the best house.
It has been a rocky road for the game’s development so far though, as Harry Potter creator and author JK Rowling has been embroiled in controversies surrounding comments that have been viewed as transphobic. After it was speculated that Hogwarts Legacy would be delayed to 2023, it was announced that the game was still on track for a 2022 release and Rowling has “no involvement” with the project. Rowling will still receive a cut of the profits from Hogwarts Legacy sales, as she receives royalties “from the Wizarding World IP in its entirety.”
Gotham Knights, another game being published by Warner Bros. Games, is also sticking to a 2022 release, and will step out of the shadows on October 25.
