The final trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is out now ahead of the movie’s release in April, and a new poster has also been released that contains a nice nod to the 1992 Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game.
The trailer is packed with action, teases out more of the story, and concludes with an epic set-up for a showdown between Sonic and Knuckles. Check it out below.
Paramount also announced special early access screening for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to be held on Wednesday, April 6, ahead of the film’s wider premiere on Friday, April 8. You can visit this ticketing website and look for Early Access screening to find a cinema near you. Everyone who attends one of the Early Access screenings also receives a print designed by Sonic video game artist Tyson Hesse, as well as a limited-edition comic book with theater-exclusive art from Sonic series illustrator and animator Nathalie Fourdraine.
A new poster has been released as well, and it pays homage to the box art for 1992’s Sonic the Hedgehog, which showed Robotnik’s big hand grabbing the number 2.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sees Sonic return from the 2020 film to once again face off against Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik. This time, Robotnik is working with Knuckles (Idris Elba), but Sonic has a new partner as well, Tails (voiced by Colleen O’SHaughnessey from the games). Ben Schwartz returns as the voice of Sonic, while Tika Sumpter and James Marsden reprising their characters as well.
Oscar-nominated director Jeff Fowler is coming back to the direct the sequel from a screenplay written by Pat Casey & John Miller, and John Whittington.
